The teacher Florian Rödiger on the Hortus di Monaco in an interview with the Neuperlach neighbourhood newspaper
January 2025. Sustainable gardening using natural cultivation methods, pupils working alongside neighbours – that is what ‘Hortus di Monaco’, the neighbourhood garden on the lawn in front of the Campus di Monaco school, is all about. In the 9th issue of the Neuperlach neighbourhood newspaper, educator Florian Rödiger recounts how the garden came into being in collaboration with NEBourhoods.
In the immediate vicinity of the Campus di Monaco Montessori School at Albert-Schweitzer-Straße 68, a previously unused and unnatural strip of green space has been transformed into a nature-friendly community garden. It is managed jointly by the school community, the neighbourhood, local clubs and initiatives. The focus is particularly on the concept of education for sustainable development. The idea for the Hortus di Monaco project emerged from the NEB Action “Growing a Tasty Neuperlach”.
